In this project, students were tasked with answering the question: How can we grow healthy food to help build sustainable communities in metro Atlanta?

To answer this, they first researched conventional farming and modern farming methods such as hydroponics and aquaponics.   Next, students worked toward two key science standards: monitoring and minimizing human impact, and evaluating competing designs. They experimented with and tested two approaches to growing vegetables, grounding their experiment in research on sustainable gardening practices.
