Do you want to know how you can help your kindergartner master the basics of math outside of the classroom? Incorporating basic math concepts into everyday activities is a great way to help build your child math skills. Having your child line up their favorite toys to count, can help with sequence counting, one to one correspondence, and more. Practicing shape recognition can be as simple as asking your child to find things around the house that are shaped liked a triangular like a piece of pizza. Have them describe why the shape she/he spotted is a triangle. Playing a less or more game can be a great way to incorporate comparing numbers. Have your child guess a number and ask is that number less or more, higher or lower, greater than or less than your number. This game helps correlate number words. If you are big on family time, playing family games like tic-tac-toe, connect four, and dominoes are great ways to help build math skills.I hope these tips were helpful and you will incorporate some of these math tips into your daily lives.
