SAE School announces partnership with Alliance Theatre
The SAE School has engaged the Alliance Theatre as an education partner for 2023-24 school year through the implementation of a variety of programs serving early learners through fifth grade. Programs include after-school drama, Kathy & Ken Bernhardt Theatre for the Very Young tour performances of OODLES OF DOODLES and THE CURIOUS CARDINAL, school day field trips for elementary-aged students to the Alliance Theatre, and professional development for educators through the annual Woodruff Arts Center Educator Conference.
Atlanta United Community Fund continues progress on GA 100 project
On Saturday, in partnership with the SAE School in Mableton, the GA 100 project delivered its third pitch. The pitch, formerly an empty lot behind the school, is set to serve 375 students from pre-k to 8th grade.

“It’s been really cool to find out, like, the different temperatures you see different days,” said 13-year-old Paris Howard, an 8th grader at SAE. “It’s definitely made me think more in depth of how our climate is changing.”

This is in addition to their already existing 30kW system totaling 156kW. Creative Solar USA and Southface Institute teamed up to provide a completely funded solar energy array to the school.

SAE students spend more time outdoors and engaged in projects ranging from growing aquaponic lettuce by using fish waste as fertilizer to designing sustainable parks. Now the school is on track to become the first elementary school in the state to operate with 100% solar energy. “Sustainability is not just a project at the SAE School but a permanent way of life,” Starowicz said.

“The topic of sustainability is a global round-table discussion. Citizens of the world are making serious efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle by-products of everyday living,” said Scott Starowicz, CFO of The SAE School. Starowicz added that his school is joining those ranks.

Southface Institute announced today the completion of solar installation work for its partnership with The SAE School and a groundbreaking philanthropic financing structure that opens the door to solar for other schools and nonprofits. The ribbon-cutting event to unveil the project, a cornerstone of the school’s net-zero goals, was held Wednesday, September 2, at The SAE School, 6688 Mableton Parkway SE, Mableton, GA 30126.
Georgia's SAE School first to run 100 percent on solar power
“These are the kinds of projects we get really excited about,” Seth Gunning of Creative Solar USA, said in a news release. “Not only does the school benefit from clean renewable energy, but so does the community. With any excess energy being sent back to the grid from the solar array, The SAE School will essentially help to power their local community.”
